For this year’s annual appeal we are asking for your support to maintain and grow the high-quality newspaper that we offer you free each week — the newspaper this community deserves. We need to raise $40,000 to keep the presses running.

Donations to our annual appeal do not include a mailed subscription. To get the paper in the mail ($75 or more) you can apply your donation to "Mailed Subscription."

Independent. Local. Yours.

Independent news, free of government or corporate restraints, is vital to a thriving democracy.

Local news provides important information at the micro, geographically specific level, in a way the national news just can't.

The Commons is both.

We let you know, on a weekly basis, about essential, quality of life issues going on in your community.

Best of all, it's free, enabling all of our citizens to stay well informed and involved.

But it is not free to produce. Please, join us, and together we can provide this thriving community with the news and events we need to know about, and educational programs that ensure the next generation grows up to be strong, informed leaders.

Become a member of Vermont Independent Media. We know many of you just love to receive The Commons in the mail and we are happy to continue to provide that option and have so since 2006, at the same rate of $75—a consistent price point for over fifteen years. What has not been consistent is postage prices over the last fifteen years, which have risen by more than 160%! After careful consideration, we have had to increase the home delivery rate to $100 – but this won’t be effective until the new year! That means that through the entire holiday season, those who choose home delivery or renew your home delivery service will get it before the rate changes. You might even want to gift a year of newspaper deliveries for friends and family.

We can’t thank you enough for your continued support.
